Nordstrom Opening First Store in the Pittsburgh Area Soon

Located about 40 minutes (20 miles) north of Peters Township, Pittsburgh’s first Nordstrom department store will be opening in late October at the Ross Park Mall. If you have ever shopped at a Nordstrom you have experienced what many consider the finest customer service a retailer can deliver. I happen to like the style of custom service this retail department store is recognized for delivering. By-the-way, if think you can measure up to the high standards of customer service Nordstrom is recognized for, they are hiring 250 employees for their new Pittsburgh store located at the Ross Park Mall.

For Your Next Pittsburgh Home Address!

In case you missed it, CENTURY 21 has been taking tremendous strides recently to ramp up its exposure particularly to a new segment of home buyers. Obvious areas C-21 has focused on recently is in its TV ad campaign and updates to its website. One of the lines I really like from the TV ad is the one that says “CENTURY 21 is Your Web Address for Your New Home Address.” This coupled with the recent total revamp of the corporate website is exciting. Using traditional media like TV coupled with investment in new media is important for our franchise to remain viable and competitive. Plus, our franchise needs to be speaking to a new audience - those younger buyers who are members of the Gen Y and Gen X generations.

It still might be to soon to tell but at some point the supply of homes for sale in Pittsburgh is bound decrease (hit bottom). If what I learned from my economics 101 class remains true, it is at that point that Pittsburgh home prices should begin to inch up (the law of supply and demand). This should cause Pittsburgh home buyers who have been sitting on the sidelines to wake up and take action!

Talk about a weird scenario, for the month of April, Pittsburgh real estate sales continued to decline by 13.2% compared to last April while the median value of homes for sale in the 5-county region actually rose by 3.7% (annualized appreciation since 2000).
