Managing the Emotions of Buying Your Peters Township Home
December 4, 2007 5:37 pm Peters Township Blog, Peters Township Buying Tips
Over the years experience has been a good teacher and I’ve learned many valuable lessons about transacting real estate here in this wonderful area of Peters Township, PA. If you’ve read my bio, you know I come from a long line of Pittsburgh real estate agents. My family has passed down a wealth of advice along the way. First and foremost - I’m not a real estate salesperson. It’s my job to help match buyers to the homes that best “fit” their needs - plain and simple. Second, many of the homes people “fall in love” with don’t appeal to my personal taste….which is fine. We are all different and have different taste and needs.
A Home Matchmaker
I’d like to think of myself as that of a real estate consultant. A real estate professional “matchmaker” who determines the fine details of what you need in a home. Putting my experience and market “insider knowledge” to work for you, I’ll scour the real estate market to locate that perfect home that fits your families wants and needs. Of course, I’ll be acutely aware of your budget too.
The Emotions of Buying a Washington County Home
Many times, buyers experience any number of emotions when searching for a Peters Township home. Emotions range from pure exhilaration to dreaded fear. From extreme buying confidence to the dreaded “buyer’s remorse”. Of course, the type of buyer you are can dictate what feelings you will experience too.
The Fearful First-time Buyer
Take for instance a first time home buyer. Many first time buyers are naturally fearful about their ability to afford a home and they often need to be educated about the process. Doubts after a home purchase can lead to buyer’s remorse. It’s a natural tendency, so don’t become alarmed if feelings of doubt begin to surface after you’ve closed your transaction. As a real estate professional, removing doubt with sound information before you close the deal is the best antidote.
The Anxious Move Up Buyer
Of course more experienced “move up buyers” desire to find a larger home that fits their growing families needs. Concerns over great schools, being located near certain types of amenities (maybe sports facilities for the kids) and financial aspects all come into play.
The Empty Nest Blues
For “Boomers” who are seeking a simplified lifestyle and downsizing, concerns over being located near good medical care or living in a secure gated community are all important priorities. Often these same Boomers experience some sadness moving away from the home where their family grew up and established many cherished memories.
The Emotional Buyer (and Seller) Roller Coaster
As you can see, everyone encounters different emotions when buying (and selling) a home. The best way to keep your emotions in check is with good information (and a good Realtor). Information is powerful! Buying with confidence means you have found that perfect Peters Township/McMurray area home that speaks to your emotions and your practical side as well.
What emotions did you experience from past real estate transactions? Did you learn any valuable lessons about the real estate transaction? I look forward to hearing your stories!
Until next post,
Jim
